My name is Emily, welcome to my practice located at Positive Perspectives (297 St.Mary’s Road)! I completed my Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing in 2018 and have been working as a registered psychiatric nurse since then. In September 2023, I began my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology to build on this foundation and expand my scope of practice. As a regulated health professional, I am already able to provide counselling, and this graduate training has widened and deepened the ways I can support clients through more holistic, integrated care. I am currently awaiting my Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) designation to accompany my existing nursing registration following completion of my degree.
In my work, I draw on both my psychiatric nursing scope and my qualifying psychotherapist scope, recognizing that different people need different things at different times. Sometimes that looks like more structure, education, and nervous-system strategies; other times it looks like slower, deeper exploratory work.
My approach is trauma-informed, attachment-based, and relational, integrating Brainspotting, Narrative Therapy, Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems, and somatic strategies. My aim is to create a space where you feel safe, seen, and supported in reconnecting with parts of yourself that may have had to go quiet to cope.
At this time, my schedule is Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. I do not have evening availability for the foreseeable future. Sessions can be held either in person or virtually, depending on what feels most accessible and comfortable for you.
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, reading, and spending time with my husband and our golden retriever, Gretchen, who is present in session as a comforting companion.
